Siye Tao

Research Areas: 
Dance Ethnography, Translation of original Korean, Tibetan, and Mongolian text into Chinese


Siye Tao is an Assistant Arts Professor at NYU Shanghai. She holds a Master’s degree of Dance Performance and a B.A. in Dance Education from Minzu University of China, Beijing.

Professor Tao’s research interests include Korean dance traditions, distinctions in Tibetan styles from cross-sections of Western China, and the evolution of dances among the Chinese southern ethnic minority groups.

Tao also participates in Dance for Camera choreography, design and editing. She still performs and most recently at the Festival d’Avignon in France, the Power Station of Art (Shanghai), the Beijing Modern Dance Festival, the Shanghai Museum of Glass, and the Guangdong Modern Dance Festival, and so on.
