Pianist Meiling Chen, is currently serving as the Assistant Professor of Arts at New York University Shanghai and is recognized as a Steinway Honorary Young Teacher. Born in Xiamen, China, Miss Chen's passion for piano emerged early in her life, and she rapidly developed her skills under the guidance of esteemed mentors Meiqing Zhang and Xiaoyan Lin at Xiamen Music High School. She further pursued her Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance at the prestigious Tianjin Conservatory of Music on a scholarship, studying under the tutelage of Prof. Jingjing Wang, director of the piano department. 

Miss Chen's talent was acknowledged when she won the Tianjin Piano competition, solidifying her position as the top-ranked pianist at the Tianjin Conservatory of Music. This led her to pursue her Master's Degree in Piano Performance at Steinhardt NYU. There, she had the honor of studying under the guidance of Prof. Eduardus Halim, the Sascha Gorodnitzki Chair in Piano Studies, and the esteemed last pupil of legendary maestro Vladimir Horowitz.

She has represented the city of Xiamen in concerts honoring Chinese Presidents Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin, as well as Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji. Meiling Chen has recently collaborated with Maestro Robert Kabara and the Tianjin Symphony, performed Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1 in Tianjin Symphony Hall. She has also given solo performances at multiple events such as the Music China Expo 2023; World Piano Conference; “Tutte le Corde” New York Contemporary Piano Festival; the MusicAlp Festival, France. Her performances have taken place in venues including the Septodont Auditorium of the Steinhardt Saklad Series; The Loewes Theatre, NYU; Auditorium, Columbia University; Kimbrough Concert Hall, Seattle; Grand Auditorium, Nice, France. Xiamen Hongtai Concert Hall, China; Tianjin Grand Concert Hall, China; among others. In addition, her performance of "China-India Friendship Song" was quoted by the prestigious historian, director of the Center of Global Asia of NYU, prof. Tansen Sen, in his recent publication "The Materiality of Friendship", 2022.

Miss Chen has shared the strong passion in the field of piano education. She has been invited to give talks and masterclasses at multiple institutions and competitions, sharing her knowledge and expertise with aspiring pianists. Furthermore, she has served as one of the juries in esteemed competitions such as the Steinway Piano Competition and the Macao International Piano Competition.

Miss. Chen strong interest in piano pedagogue coupled with her cast experiences in teaching resulted in the current position as Artist Faculty of the NYU Shanghai in charge of the development of the piano program in addition to teaching piano classes and related music courses. Previously, she was appointed as an Adjunct Faculty of the Piano Studies at the Steinhardt, New York University.
